Badge is adidas’ seasonal livery: a polished, versatile visual language that translates the brand’s objectives into public-facing art. Across this massive undertaking, which involved 24 days of shooting in 3 countries, we provided creative direction on the talent, movements, locations, and overall atmosphere that brought the brand’s narrative to life. We then created a flexible graphic system that united local marketing campaigns under the cohesive, global framework of adidas’ public ethos.

I created this case study by hand, selecting my favorite images from the pool of tens of thousands, printing them out by the hundreds. I hand-collaged them with ephemera from the shoot, scanned the compositions, and layered digital images on top of the physical ones to get just the right amount of crunch and grain without compromising the images’ sharpness and color. Nearly every gif you see is comprised of real printed, scanned, and layered frames. No digital texturing here.
